Welcome to the 2011-2012 School Year!

Every week or two, I will be writing a post on this blog that details the current activities and homework.  Sometimes we will not get to all that was planned or there will be slight changes, but for the most part, this is a very good place to look to see what we did in class.  In addition, you will find that most class documents will be available on the side using Google Docs.  Occasionally the formatting for documents suffers in the translation to Googledocs.  If you have questions (students or parents), feel free to e-mail me at mkenny@pps.net
  • Tues 9/6:  Short classes.  Take Roll.  Students fill out information sheets.  Demonstrate Early Work.  Hand out Classroom Expectations.  Read them and bring questions this week or next.
  • Thurs 9/8:  First Early Work.  Go over classroom rules and routines.  Small group brainstorm:  what goes into taking good scientific data?  Notes on Uncertainty.  Start Measurement Lab in groups.
  • Mon 9/12:  Calculating with uncertainty.   Finish Measurement Lab, due Wednesday 9/14.  You can turn in the worksheet, but your work should be clear, neat, and thorough.  If you need to, rewrite on a separate sheet.  Introduction to significant figures.  Do 1st side of Chapter 1 Worksheet.  Hand out Safety and Academic Honesty contracts.  Bring back signed by Friday 9/16.
  • Wed 9/14:   Turn in Measurement Lab.  Metric System and conversions.  Scientific notation.  Complete 2nd side of Chapter 1 Worksheet, due Friday.
  • Fri 9/16:  Turn in signed Safety and Academic Honesty contracts.  Check off Chapter 1 Worksheet and go over.  Review for short test on Tuesday 9/20.   Start Chapter 2:  Motion Lab.
Be prepared for Short Chapter 1 Test on Tuesday.  Your chapter 1 worksheet is the best review.
