Today I would like you to investigate how a rainbow is formed and how the human eye sees things, including how nearsightedness and farsightedness are corrected. These concepts correspond to questions 12 and 14 on your 14+15 Review Sheet. Both of these concepts will be short answer questions on your test on Thursday.
Instructions for Rainbows:
1. Go to The Physics Classroom Link (bottom one)
2. Go to Physics Tutorial
3. Go to Refraction and Ray Model of Light (last one I think)
4. Go to Lesson 4 and pick Rainbow Formation
Focus on the diagrams for how a rainbow is formed. What 2 things happen to the light waves? (think about the wave properties we have discussed). Draw a picture of what happens in the water droplet. If blue comes out on top of the droplet, why is it that red is on top of the rainbow that we see? What 3 requirements are needed to see a rainbow? (this is in the very last sentence of the rainbow section)

5. Follow previous instructions in Physics Classroom, but go to Lesson 6 (The Eye)
6. Read about Anatomy (a), and Image formation (b)
7. Read about farsightedness and correction (d)
8. And nearsightedness (e)
Check out the eye diagram and how the human eye works. How does the lens help focus to near and far? What is wrong with a person's eye if they are farsighted and how is it corrected? What is wrong with a person's eye if they are nearsighted and how is it corrected?

The Week of 5/2-5/6
- Monday 5/2: Go to library. Check off Lens HW and go over. Look up rainbows and nearsightedness and farsightedness (instructions/questions will be on this blog). Then do project research and/or LoggerPro graph for Snell's Law Lab.
- Tuesday 5/3: Turn in Snell's Law Lab. Check off Critical Angle HW and go over. Go over 14+15 Review Sheet.
- Thursday 5/5: Turn in 14+15 Review. Take 14+15 Test. When finished read 17.1 (pp 628-633). Basic static electrics vocab.
- Friday 5/6: Coulomb's Law. HW p. 636 1-4.

- Tuesday 4/26: Check off p. 567 HW and go over. Snell's Law Lab. Write up due next Tuesday 5/3.
- Thursday 4/28: Ray Diagrams and Lenses. HW p. 576 1-4. Go to library for Project Research. Try to firm up your topic this week! (Project will be due 5/26).
- Friday 4/29: Check off Lens HW. Critical Angles and Total Internal Reflection. HW p. 582 1-4. Hand out Review Sheet for Chapters 14+15. Test next Block Day.

The Week of 4/4-4/8
The Late Work/Extra Credit Deadline for 3rd Quarter is Tuesday 4/5 by 1:45. Remember that this is a strange week, with Block Days falling on Tuesday and Thursday.
- Monday 4/4: Check off HW #2 p. 188 1-5 and go over. Harmonics on a string and on an open or closed pipe. Harmonics Equations. HW #3, p 199 1-4.
- Wednesday 4/6 (short classes): Check off HW #3 and go over. Hand out Chapters 12+13 Review. The test will be next Tuesday 4/12.
- Thursday 4/7: Speed of Sound Lab. Take data and do calculations. Short write-up due by next Monday.
- Friday 4/8: Teacher Work Day. No School.
